Summary of GenAI Expertise
My research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice and The Licensing Journal. I have written on the use of AI-generated actors for film and TV productions for the European Audiovisual Observatory, and authored a chapter on social media advertising for a fashion law textbook.
I regularly speak at industry events and specialist workshops, for example “Unlocking Digital Heritage and Creative Industries through Data Science and AI” funded by the Alan Turing Institute. I also guest lecture at universities.
I've appeared on national news media to discuss deepfakes, artificial intelligence, intellectual property (namely copyright and trade marks), and Internet regulation. Programmes include Channel 4 Dispatches, Channel 5 News, BBC Radio 4, and several podcasts.
I am an advisory board member of vera.AI, a European research consortium working to combat disinformation. I have also worked with the European Parliament’s Science and Technology Options Assessment (STOA) Panel to advise on proposed deepfake legislation.
My Story
Named as a “Rising Star – one of the UK’s Best Up and Coming Female Lawyers” in 2023 by Law.com, I am a media and entertainment lawyer and recognised as one of Europe’s foremost legal authorities on AI-generated content. My expertise bridges the gap between traditional media law and new technologies.
I support a variety of clients across the audiovisual, publishing, and media sectors, as well as those in the creative and performing arts. As an intellectual property and contracts lawyer by background, my specialism lies in advising on the intersection of personality (publicity) rights, copyright, and the use of GenAI such as deepfakes. I also offer expert advice on reputation management, privacy, branding, advertising, and social media platform regulations.
In addition to my day job as a lawyer, I regularly speak at industry events and have appeared on several news programmes to discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by AI. My research contributions appear in academic textbooks, peer-reviewed journals, and government policy publications. I am also an advisory board member of vera.ai, an EU initiative for media and journalism professionals to combat disinformation and misinformation.
Originally from the West Coast of the United States, I bring an international perspective to my practice. After qualifying as a solicitor (England & Wales) in 2018, I obtained a diploma from Harvard Law School’s CopyrightX course and am now studying to become dual-qualified as a California attorney.
When not at my desk, I enjoy exploring London and beyond with my husband and young son.
